Oscar and Constance, the founders of Casa Alta, in the vegetable garden under a fruit tree

Our story

After 20 years in Europe, Oscar returned to the mountains where he was born to build Casa Alta: a refuge of guadua and wood, suspended above Pereira, where every detail has a purpose.

Oscar Eduard Ruiz was born in the mountains of Colombia's Coffee Region. For almost 20 years he lived in Europe, mainly in France, walking alongside hundreds of people through important moments of their lives: listening, comforting, guiding, serving.

Today, Casa Alta is the project of a French-Colombian couple bringing together the best of Colombia and Burgundy.

Casa Alta exists thanks to the generosity of those who believed in this project. Their names are carved into wooden logs at the entrance: this place is theirs too.

The ecology of the soul

Just as we care for the forest, the water and the land, we believe our inner landscape needs care too. The ecology of the soul is the idea behind everything at Casa Alta: listening to silence, taking time, reconnecting with nature, with others and with yourself.

Every experience we offer, from meditation to planting a tree or returning to your own roots, grows from this same idea: healing the land and nourishing the soul.

Rooted in responsibility

  • Local materials

Built with guadua bamboo, wood and handcrafted stone from the region, and by local craftspeople, to blend into the landscape rather than disturb it.

  • Restoring the forest

Through our reforestation programme, every guest is invited to plant a tree on our land.

  • Protecting our water

Mineral mountain water flows naturally through our land, and we collect rainwater in a reserve tank.

  • Investing in our community

We volunteer at the local rural school and champion the products, knowledge and traditions of the region's farmers.

  • A company with a purpose

Casa Alta is an SAS BIC, a Colombian legal status that commits us to a positive social and environmental impact.

Where Colombian flavours meet French savoir-faire

Casa Alta is not a restaurant: it is a home where food is cooked with passion. Our cooking, healthy and simple, draws on training alongside renowned chefs in Burgundy.

We bring together the best of two worlds: fresh, local, seasonal Colombian ingredients and French savoir-faire. The result is authentic dishes, unlike anything you will find elsewhere.

Local breakfast included · Set menu of the day (starter, main course and dessert): 49,000 COP · Special dishes on request.

Everything is home-made and freshly prepared: please book your meals in advance.

From garden to table

In our terraced garden, overlooking the Pereira valley, we grow broccoli, lettuce, cebolla larga (spring onion) and herbs such as rosemary, coriander and oregano.

We harvest with the seasons to bring freshness and flavour to every dish. Many other products, such as eggs and avocados, come from our neighbours: cooking born of this mountain and of the people who farm it.

From the guava tree in our garden we pick the guavas for our tart: a French recipe with a Colombian fruit, a lovely French-Colombian fusion.
